The Panthère de Cartier watch embodies the glamorous and extravagant spirit of the 1980s. With this creation, Cartier strives for lines that maintain purity and elegance.
The Panthère watch is all about shape and structure: a square with rounded corners, harmoniously curved attachments and a visible rivet, it fits comfortably on the wrist.
It takes its name from its bracelet, the strongest element of its design. Extra-flexible, it is meant to evoke the movement of Cartier’s emblematic animal, the panther. The succession of curved and polished links provides remarkable flexibility and fluidity.
The jewel-shaped clasp is invisible, blending into the links of the watch and following the curves of the bracelet without compromising its pliability.
The dial displays several Cartier-specific codes: Roman numerals, railway track motifs and blue, sword-shaped hands, with the watchmaker’s logo inconspicuously integrated into one of the Roman numerals.
The crafting of the watch hands requires more than 20 steps. The needles are made blue via the steel oxidation process, a traditional watchmaking step meant to prevent rust.
The seven-sided crown, the signature accent of the Panthère, is set with a blue spinel (or a sapphire for special editions).
